The DA1 provides a safe and clean environment for the toilet user 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The built-in cleaning and safety features make it an ideal toilet to deal with a steady flow of users, where reliability and dealing with anti-social behaviour issues are at a premium.
These toilets can be installed in singles or as a number of cubicles. If a single cubicle is to be installed, this must be DDA compliant and will therefore have minimum interior dimensions of 2.2m by 1.5m. The secondary cubicles will typically be 1.5m by 1m.
The main strength of our DA1 is its ability to handle a range of users from disabled users through to would-be vandals. The interior is light, clean and simple to use and is made of highly robust and vandal resistant materials. Anti-social behaviour is deterred by built in features, including the door not shutting when more than two people are detected; a high pressure vandal spray being released when a hammer is used on the walls, and the door opening after fifteen minutes.
The toilets are connected to Healthmatic Head Office by modem and all activity, including cleaner and engineer visits, out of service situations and vandalism, are recorded and acted upon appropriately. Most of our clients receive a monthly log giving them a summary of the activity within the toilets.
Our toilets are made in partnership with PT Matic, based in Italy. The glass toilet above was installed Glasgow City Council.
The toilet can be located in areas as diverse as high streets, shopping centres, car parks and country parks. We also run a number of DA1 facilities alongside attended toilets to provide out of hours cover. The toilet can be positioned in relatively quiet locations and the client can be confident that it will not suffer from serial anti-social behaviour.
A DA1 is best dealing with a steady flow of users as opposed to a very peaky profile of traffic that you may encounter at a bus terminus, for example.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The floor and toilet bowl are cleaned and dried after each user. Depending on client requirements, the walls can also be cleaned using high pressure washers. Overnight the toilet is shut down for a 15 minute deep clean, when an atomised spray is released throughout the cubicle in order to kill any latent bacteria. Most of our DA1 facilities will also be visited on a daily basis by a locally employed cleaner / overseer to check for graffiti and other evidence of anti-social behaviour.
A number of our clients ask for a needle count to be recorded from the needle bin.
An engineer will typically have one planned maintenance visit per week and will also be called out by the Remote Monitoring system in the event of vandalism being detected. Vandalism and attempted vandalism tends to peak in the first months after an installation and will die down after the vandals perceive a lack of notable success. This also tends to mean that an engineer will more closely monitor a toilet in its first months.
A well maintained DA1 toilet will last a minimum of fifteen years.
