The attended toilet is the best and most expensive solution to toilet provision for high numbers of people. It is not suitable for 24 hour provision, but may be accompanied by an APC (below) to provide round the clock cover.


Fully Automatic Self Cleaning Toilet, often known as an APC (standing for Automatic Public Convenience). The Rolls Royce solution for toilets which will have a steady flow of users, where costs need to be controlled.

The Semi - Automatic toilet. This direct access toilet combines a high standard of cleanliness with an ability to handle large numbers of people. Typically this toilet is located in busy Town and City centres, often in car parks, or on thoroughfares towards the shopping areas. They can be built into an existing building or stand alone.

The Urilift. This semi-permanent retractable urinal has proven itself in over ninety ‘hot spots’ where street urination at night has proven a problem.


Community Toilet Scheme. This type of scheme, pioneered by Perth & Kinross and Richmond Councils provides a useful adjunct to the permanent provision of the Council.
